About the Company
The team at JSA Audit Limited has a high level of skill & experience. We deliver big firm expertise with a small firm service. We offer always to seek a pragmatic solution to issues as they arise.
We at JSA are not the traditional stale type of stuffy accountants who think more of their premises then they do of their clients! With us it’s Clients come first, then Clients come second and then Clients come third! You will not receive a better service than from us.
John Alexander BMS CA
Originally from the Waikato, I qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young, Hamilton, back in 1986. After spending two years auditing with Ernst & Young in England, I moved to Auckland in 1990 where I have worked on business services, audit and taxation for a couple of medium sized chartered accountancy practices.
I formed JSA Audit back in 2006 operating out of Newmarket and together with fellow shareholders continue to grow and develop the audit and review engagement practise. Our aim is to develop a long term and professional working relationship with our clients.
I am an active tennis player but have also found the less demanding activities such as golf, fishing, sports watching and visiting NZ Wineries to be particularly enjoyable. I am an active traveller throughout New Zealand, particularly Dunedin where I have a small interest in a manufacturing business with my brother. I currently live in Remuera.
Mark Bezuidenhout BCom CA
Initially qualified as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa through KPMG -Johannesburg Office. Subsequently spent a number of years in various Corporate Internal Audit Departments and also ran my own accounting and taxation practice for 2 years prior to emigration to New Zealand in 2004.
Joined JSA in April 2006 and have been involved in all aspects of the audit and review process of our growing client base in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. I was recognised by the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants as a qualified auditor on July 2015.
My passion is with auditing and review work as it allows me the opportunity to meet new people, interact with various levels of staff in the organization and provide realistic recommendations to help improve their internal control environments.
When not at work I do enjoy spending time with the family, socializing and sharing a bottle of wine with friends around the BBQ. I also occasionally find the opportunity to network with others on the golf course.
Paul Leighton BBS
Originally from London I began my work in the in the construction Industry. I worked as a manual tradesman for close to 10 years, before I had an Epiphany (or an early midlife crisis), and decided the world of commerce was where and what I wanted to be involved in.
I studied at Auckland’s Unitec and gained a Bachelor in Business Studies degree. I've been involved in audit and accounting for over 20 years including some of New Zealand's biggest privately owned companies. Conflict resolution and mediation services are also an area which I'm particularly interested in.
I have a busy family life and the weekends often find me standing on the side-lines watching my son play soccer.
Judi Jones CA
I served articles for a medium sized audit firm in South Africa, qualifying as a CA(SA) in 2000, and was there for 9 years until deciding to move into commerce. After a year as a financial manager for a listed tertiary educator, I realized that auditing was my passion and returned to the profession, again to a medium sized firm, where I enjoyed five years, the last two as an audit partner before emigrating to New Zealand, where I converted my South African qualification to a New Zealand one.
I have been an audit manager at JSA Audit since my arrival in Auckland in 2009 and enjoy the more personal approach that a smaller firm can offer.
Having been “on the other side” of an audit, I believe I understand the pressures being faced by clients and consider myself sensitive to their needs as far as audits are concerned.
I have a high view of the profession and its work and endeavour to ensure clients always receive “service with a smile” that is efficient and useful to them. I believe an audit is a valuable tool in assisting clients to identify ways of improving their controls and procedures, which will have a tangible effect on their business.
During weekends and evenings my husband and I are kept busy by our 2 daughters and their varied activities, as well as being involved in our local church community.
Erika W. Lagto BSA GDPA
Erika has a Bachelor Degree in Accountancy from University of Santo Tomas (Philippines) and Graduate Diploma in Professional Accountancy from Unitec Institute of Technology (NZ). After completing Bachelor Degree in the Philippines back in 2008, she immediately took the CPA Licensure Exam and passed it making her a licensed CPA.
Erika started her career as an External Auditor in Grant Thornton Philippines, wherein she had worked with different clients in different industries (Oil, Manufacturing, Retail and Real Estate). After staying for two years in auditing, she moved into a private company in which she was a pioneer employee and was sent abroad for training. During her stay in the private company, she managed to create her own team, set up the company’s accounting system, internal controls and procedures on the work done. Due to her success in establishing the Manila team, she was promoted and became directly reporting to the President of the company.
In 2015, she decided to pursue studying again and became a provisional member of CAANZ with hopes to become a fully qualified CA. She recently joined JSA as an Audit Intermediate and is enjoying her stay as there is really a “work-life balance”, approachable and great people to work with.
She is passionate about learning new things, languages and travelling into different places. When not at work, she usually spends time with family and friends, socializing and watching movies.
